The NPC's vice chairman and secretary general, Wang Chen, has delivered a report on the proposed amendment to China's Constitution.
He said after more than three decades, the current Constitution has been proven to be in line with China's national conditions and should continue to be upheld. He also said the Constitution should be revised to adapt to the times, and the current Constitution has been revised four times since its enactment. With China entering a new era, Wang said the amendment is needed under the leadership of the CPC. Wang said the amendment must follow legitimate procedures strictly. A draft of the amendment will be examined by the NPC.
