China opposes the sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DRPK) imposed by Japan as they are outside the framework of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and demands Japan to retract its wrong decision, remarked spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry Lu Kang on Friday.
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said on Friday that his country would impose additional sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, hours after the US Senate voted for new sanctions against the DPRK, Russia and Iran. The additional sanctions Japan said will impose include two Chinese firms whose business scope covers financial services, transportation and mineral exports.

Answering a reporter's question during a daily news briefing, Lu noted that China opposes sanctioning Chinese entities and people.
Lu also said China is committed to realizing the denuclearization of Korean Peninsula and the full implementation of UNSC resolutions related to the DPRK.
"Japan will only end up hurting itself by following the footsteps of some countries," Lu warned, adding that China would never accept Japan's wrongdoing.
Lu pointed out that if Japan insisted on carrying out the sanctions, it will result in major political obstacles to Sino-Japanese relations and bilateral cooperation on the Korean Peninsula issue.
