One dead, 41 others ill in New Jersey carbon monoxide leak

A 13-year-old girl was killed and at least 41 others are ill following a carbon monoxide leak at an apartment in Perth Amboy in the northeastern US city of New Jersey on Thursday, NBC reported citing local authorities.

27 police officers were among those who were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

The 12-unit building was immediately evacuated after the leak was reported on Thursday evening, and authorities are investigating the source of the leak.
