Ivanka in South Korea: US president's daughter backs sanctions against DPRK

US President Donald Trump's daughter and senior White House adviser, Ivanka Trump, is in South Korea for a visit that began Friday. She attended a banquet hosted by South Korean President Moon Jae-in after a closed-door meeting between the two.
During the meeting, Moon said South Korea cannot acknowledge the DPRK as a nuclear state. He said talks with Pyongyang on denuclearization and improving inter-Korean relations, should go hand-in-hand. Moon also said close cooperation between the US and South Korea is important for the talks.
Ivanka Trump said the US is seeking to reaffirm its commitment to a maximum pressure campaign to ensure that the Korean Peninsula is denuclearized. She is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Kim Yong Chol, a senior DPRK official, will also be at the ceremony.
