CGTN's VICTOR NING interviewed some students for their opinions.
President Xi said that young people today should shoulder the responsibility of the times. To do this, it's important for China's youth to have solid knowledge and a clear mind about life.
HU XIANZHONG, CHIEF EXPERT IN YOUTH MOVEMENTS HISTORY CHINA YOUTH AND CHILDREN RESEARCH CENTER "I think nowadays young Chinese should do their own jobs well. They need to be clear about what they should learn and what they should do in every stage of their life. Without achieving this aim, it's meaningless to talk about the future goal or the contribution made to the society."
As Xi also said, China needs to pay attention to young people's needs, and help and support them to build up a career.
HU XIANZHONG, CHIEF EXPERT IN YOUTH MOVEMENTS HISTORY CHINA YOUTH AND CHILDREN RESEARCH CENTER "The self-development of young people is fully connected with our country. As I visited some start-up firms and talked with young entrepreneurs, they told me, they couldn't fulfill their dreams without the greater development of China. And thanks to this, they could be greatly supported, work very hard and start their business."
Young Chinese nowadays are facing more challenges than in 1919. They are becoming more independent and fearless. Their voices should be heard.
STUDENT UNIVERSITY OF CHINESE ACADEMY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES "I feel so excited about Xi's speech today. It really inspired me a lot. I think the spirit of the May Fourth Movement is profound. I am about to graduate in two months. I am considering if I should further my studies or apply for a job. This might be a great change for my life."
STUDENT CHINA YOUTH UNIVERSITY OF POLITICAL STUDIES "I am now majoring in political studies, and sometimes I will think about how to put my knowledge into great use for my life. I am so glad about President Xi's remarks on our young people. I feel energetic to finish my studies and try my best to contribute to society."
A good understanding of history is important, and that young people's future is closely connected with China. CGTN.
