A body found in an apartment in London is believed to be that of a female Chinese student. That's according to a statement on Wednesday by local police. 35-year-old Yan Sihong was a doctoral student at King's College London. She was officially reported missing on Monday. Police say the death is being treated as non-suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Police also said the victim suffered from a long-term back condition, causing mobility issues.
The Chinese embassy said Yan's next of kin have been informed and will be provided with support. Yan's parents said the last contact with her was on February 16th. They later sought help from the Chinese embassy and called the police. Yan's case has been closely followed by Chinese media and people on Weibo, who have expressed condolences over her death. According to the Chinese students association at King's College, the last time Yan logged into her email account was on February 20th, from a suburb of northeast London.
