Chinese championships: Yang Junxuan, 16, shock winner in women's 200m freestyle

Day 4 of the Chinese National Swimming Championships & Asian Games Trials ended in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province on Monday.
In the men's 100-meter butterfly final, Li Zhuhao established a lead of more than half a second after the first 50 meters. The advantage increased to a full body length in the last few meters with Li prevailing in a time of 51.77 seconds, the sixth best time in the world this year.

In the final of men's 400-meter individual medley, Wang Shun was trailed after the butterfly portion, but the swimmer from eastern Zhejiang Province took control during the backstroke, which saw him build a lead of more than two seconds. Wang finished in a time of four minutes and 14.02 seconds, for the gold.
Meanwhile, in the women's 200-meter freestyle final, Yang Junxuan from the PLA Navy was among four swimmers born in 2002, showcasing a new generation of swimmers.
The 16-year-old was seeking her third gold, after victories in the 100-meter freestyle and the 4x100m medley relay. Yang trailed by more than one second in the first 100 meters, but had quite a kick after the last turn. Yang won over Li Bingjie to finish in a time of 1:56.79 to win the gold.

In the women's 100-meter backstroke final, Chinese star swimmer Fu Yuanhui competed with a shoulder injury. She finished in third place while Chen Jie clinched the gold.
