China and African leaders are mapping out guidelines for their next three years of cooperation. This is taking place at a roundtable meeting in Beijing, presided over by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa. Our reporter Tang Bo is there and has more details.
From China-Africa relations to international issues. These are the areas of discussion at Tuesday's roundtable meeting. Expected to come out of it: the adoption of a Beijing Declaration on building a Stronger China-Africa Community and the Beijing Action Plan 2019 to 2021.
President Xi hopes all participants can speak freely to exchange views and ideas on international affairs.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated that the summit is being held to deepen China-Africa cooperation and deal with global challenges.
TANG BO BEIJING "The roundtable meeting paves the way for the summit to set priorities for cooperation in the coming three years and beyond. The summit will also launch initiatives to get more Chinese and African people directly participating in cooperative efforts."
China also aims to align the Belt and Road Initiative with the African Union's Agenda 2063, and the UN's 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. Tang Bo, CGTN, Beijing.
