Just two days before the Spring Festival and big Chinese cities are beginning to feel quiet as many have gone back to their hometowns. Let's take a look at Spring Festival travel rush data so far.
For the past 12 days, a staggering 894 million trips have been made nationwide via railway, roads, waterways and aviation -- a 3.27 percent decrease compared to last year. The decrease is mainly due to the relatively late date of this year's Spring Festival, which saw the travel rush not coincide with the end of the school year. Another reason for the drop is an increase in people opting to travel in their own cars. Statistics showed that overall road travel was down by 4.15 percent, with 756 million trips carried out in the 12 past days.
