China's Political Season: Supervisory commission is not a 'superpower' organization
[]
Many have expressed concerns the commission will become a superpower. Minister of Supervision Yang Xiaodu addressed the issue at the Ministers' Corridor.
YANG XIAODU CHINESE MINISTER OF SUPERVISION "After the Supreme People's Court anti-corruption department and Supreme People's Procuratorate anti-corruption system join the State Supervisory Commission, the staff in central and local supervision and discipline inspection departments will expect to increase around ten percent. Second, in the process of increasing staffing, the areas the commission supervises will expand, but the types of supervision and authorities will stay the same. The ways to supervise and inspect will comply with the Party's discipline inspection and central government's administrative supervision. We don't think we are an organization with superpower. The majority of our jobs focus on reminding about complying with rules and principles. It is about supervising and preventing individuals from making mistakes. It is to prevent the small mistakes from growing into big ones. There is no doubt that we will harshly punish those individuals who break the rules."
