Starting next week, Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit five Arab and African countries and attend the tenth BRICS summit in Johannesburg. China's Foreign Ministry outlined the details of Xi's visits. Our reporter Zheng Yibing has more.
It's the first foreign trip for Chinese president Xi Jinping this year. He'll be making state visits to the United Arab Emirates, Senegal, Rwanda and South Africa, and then paying Mauritius a friendly visit.
KONG XUANYOU CHINESE VICE FOREIGN MINISTER "The visit will promote China's relationship with these countries, strengthen our ties with developing countries, and build more consensus for the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing in September."
Xi will stay on in South Africa's Johannesburg for the 10th BRICS summit from July 25 to 27. In the era of a 4th industrial revolution, the summit will be focusing on inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
BRICS is the acronym for a group of emerging-market economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The BRICS meeting is meant to enhance exchange and cooperation between the bloc's members, and band against unilateralism and protectionism in the international community.
