To the World Robot Conference in Beijing we go where new types of robots are making their first appearances at the event. Insiders say the industry is taking new turns in China. CGTN's Sun Ye has more.
China's largest robotics gathering with more than 700 models and prototypes on debut. And all eyes are on the sector's performance.
XIN GUOBIN VICE MINISTER, INDUSTRY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY "China's robotics industry has made steady progress and is setting up a comprehensive industrial chain. And robots are playing an increasingly important role in China's high-quality manufacturing."
SUN YE BEIJING "New models, new applications, excitement all over. But for China's industrial robotic sector, there is headwinds. The market saw its first-ever decline last year, with sales dropping over three percent."
(Yuanda Robotics) Yuanda, one of China's domestic industrial robot producers says it's a call for companies to find their own place in the market.
LI XIANGQI VICE PRESIDENT, YUANDA ROBOTICS "If the industry continues to develop traditional industrial robots without adjusting to market needs, it's going to hit the ceiling. But if companies find the right direction and cultivate individual sectors according to customer needs, this will bring great opportunities. For example, our collaborative robots sustained a growth of over 50 percent in 2018."
Analysts say the slight slowdown in growth is not a cause for concern, as the industry is transitioning to becoming fitter, smarter.
China' s industrial robot output amounted to over one-third of the world's production in 2018.
And these industrious gadgets continue to take center stage at one of the world's largest robot showcases.
