The procuratorate of Shanghai's Changning District on Monday began legal proceedings against eight day care center workers accused of child abuse.
China's leading travel agency Ctrip established the center, run by a third-party organization, in 2016 to help its employees with childcare. Video footage of workers in the day care center appearing to abuse children went viral last year, leading to public outrage. Ctrip reported the abuse to district police, and the suspects have been in police custody since. The arrest of the suspects was approved on December 13th 2017. Ctrip said it has sought new management for the day care center.
