The local branch of the World Giant Omelet Brotherhood has held its annual festival in the Belgian town of Malmedy. 10,000 hen's eggs were used for the traditional event, despite a scandal sweeping Europe involving eggs tainted with the insecticide fipronil. Festival organizers say they have reassured the public of the eggs' safety for this year's event and locals are as supportive as ever.
