The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension released a video showing Diamond Reynolds, the girlfriend of slain Philando Castile, handcuffed and seated in the back of a police vehicle alongside her 4-year-old daughter.
The video shows the moments after St. Anthony Police Department officer Jeronimo Yanez shot Castile several times, leading to his death.
In the video, Reynolds' daughter can be seen trying to comfort her grieving mother, while overcoming with emotion at times herself.
The release of dashboard video in the shooting death of Castile renewed anger over his death and reopened an emotional question: How could the police officer who shot him be acquitted?
But even with the shocking squad-car footage, prosecutors faced a challenge because no video showed exactly what happened inside Castile's car. That left plenty of room for reasonable doubt.
The dashboard video made public for the first time on Tuesday showed events that had been described many times since Castile was killed by Yanez nearly a year ago.
For many viewers, the graphic scene of gunfire striking a black driver during a seemingly simple traffic stop made last week's verdict harder to understand.
