In Britain and Ireland, airports have reopened and public transportation is beginning to get back to normal after the area's worst snowstorms in nearly 30 years. A blast of Siberian cold dubbed "the Beast from the East" merged with Storm Emma from the south. The freezing weather grounded planes and shut schools.
Public transportation in Ireland is due to reopen soon with limited servicea fter being shut down entirely. In Scotland, trains are running at half schedule. Flood warnings have been issued due to the melting snow. As temperatures start to recover, Britain's biggest airports, Heathrow and Gatwick, appeared to be operating normally. Meanwhile, Manchester and Edinburgh reported fewer flight cancellations and delays.
