China's state broadcaster, CCTV, staged an international Spring Festival Gala Thursday night to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This year's show highlights a blend of performers from a dozen of countries. The main stage was in Beijing, and there were four sub-venues in the provinces of Guizhou, Guangdong, Shandong and Hainan. Each provided live feeds to form the epic gala show. Started in 1983, the CCTV Spring Festival Gala has become a household fixture for Chinese families on the eve of the Lunar New Year. It remains the longest-running and most-watched show in the history of Chinese television. It's also the most talked about event on social platforms.
