A 3.4-magnitude earthquake has jolted the northeastern part of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.
The CENC said the quake occurred on Saturday afternoon with a depth of zero kilometers, saying it might have been caused by an "explosion".
The epicenter was detected in Kilju county, where the DPRK’s Punggye-ri nuclear test site is located.
On September 3, a similar shallow earthquake was detected northeast of Sungjibaegam, which turned out to be caused by a nuclear test by the DPRK.
However, South Korea's Yonhap news agency cited the country's weather agency saying that Saturday's was presumed to be a "natural quake".
