China is following through with its pledge to deliver humanitarian aid to Syria. The most recent delivery included 5-point-4 thousand tons of emergency food aid and computer equipment worth about 30 thousand U-S dollars. Syria has expressed gratitude toward China, commending Beijing's efforts in helping to resolve the Syria crisis.
FAISAL MEKDAD SYRIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER "I want to thanks to the Chinese leadership, government and to the people, and we assure them that Syria will continue to be as steadfast as it has always been for the benefit of the Syrian people and in the main cause of the Syrian people, which is combating terrorism. Together with China, together with other countries that are helping Syria, we can achieve our victory against terrorists everywhere in the world."
In 2017, the governments of China and Syria signed three deals on humanitarian aid. China's Ministry of Commerce also signed two agreements with the World Health Organization in October 2016 and in January 2017, respectively, to provide a total of three million dollars in financial aid to support health care projects in Syria and some other countries. And there's more aid to come after Tuesday's signing ceremony in Damascus, the Chinese ambassador added China will provide more assistance to Syria.
QI QIANJIN CHINESE AMBASSADOR TO SYRIA "In the future we will continue providing humanitarian assistance to the Syrian government. It will remain part of our policy."
