Staying with the World Internet Conference. The 5th edition of the annual event unveiled 15 world leading Internet scientific and technological achievements. CGTN's Xu Mengqi brings us more.
XU MENGQI WUZHEN "The 15 top internet scientific and technological achievements were selected by an international panel of over 40 industry experts. And some of them are on display here. Let's take a closer look. The first thing on my list is the Huawei Ascend 310 chip. It just came out last month, and is said to be an AI chip, meaning it can be applied to different scenarios using artificial intelligence." "So Huawei's AI chip can be applied to autonomous driving. Meanwhile, China's search engine giant Baidu has also been recognized for its driverless vehicle technologies. This is the latest model of Baidu's Apollo unmanned vehicle. It's got a pretty sleek interior, and what's distinguished it from its predecessors is that passengers can now interact directly with the car via voice commands." "We've seen an AI chip, an autonomous vehicle, now let's check out something that is not actually a physical product. What we're about to show you is a mini program embedded into wechat, China's most popular social networking app, developed by tech giant Tencent."
"Is this popular?"
DAI BIN, STAFF TENCENT "Yes, now the daily active users of these mini programs are over 200 million, so far about 1.5 million developers have entered into the mini-program eco-system."
XU MENGQI WUZHEN "What's convenient about these apps is that they allow you to access loads of other services without making you download more apps. The 15 major scientific and technological achievements were selected out of more than 400 submissions from all over the world. It was a major part of this year's World Internet Conference, and will likely continue next year as well. XMQ, CGTN, Wuzhen, Zhejiang province."
