27 killed, 54 missing in DR Congo boat sinking
At least 27 people have been confirmed dead in a boat capsize that took place earlier this week in the Democratic Republic of Congo, AFP reported citing a local official on Sunday.
The accident happened overnight Thursday to Friday on the Kasai River, a tributary of the Congo River, in the western province Bandundu province.
Fifty-four others are still missing.
"Rigorous" checks had confirmed "at this stage" the death toll and those who are unaccounted for, said the administrator of Idiofa territory, Jacques Mbila.
