China’s mobile transportation platform Didi Chuxing announced its latest overseas step Tuesday, with the launch of a strategic partnership with Careem, a ride-hailing service provider in the Middle East and North Africa.
As part of the partnership, DiDi invested in Careem and the two companies will share knowledge in intelligent transportation technology, product development and operations, according to a press release Didi sent to CGTN, without revealing the investment amount.
It has been one year since Didi acquired US car-hailing company Uber’s branch in China.
On August 1st, the company announced a strategic partnership with Taxify, a fast-growing ridesharing company in Europe and Africa.
Late last month, Didi and SoftBank Group announced that they would jointly invest up to 2 billion US dollars to reinforce Grab, a similar service from Southeast Asia that is Uber’s biggest competitor in the region.
