Locals in Suining City in southwest Sichuan Province performed a dragon dance under sparks on New Year's Eve to welcome 2017. Dragon dancing in sparks is a traditional art in Chongqing city and Sichuan Province and was listed in the State-level Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006. Locals believe that the sparks from beating the liquid iron could help exorcise mishap.
