The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called on the US to take concrete steps to help resolve tensions on the Korean Peninsula through diplomatic methods.
China also called on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to respond accordingly.
"China remains committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and to achieving peace and stability through dialogue and negotiations,” spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a press conference.
Hua emphasized that the essence of the Korean Peninsula issue is security.
China insists that the issue be resolved in a peaceful way and in accordance with the fundamental interests of both countries on the peninsula to improve mutual relations and promote reconciliation, she added.
