Wong said that it’s been a great honor to take part in the festival this year, noting the speed with which the film market is developing in China. He also stressed the importance of holding such an event in Beijing, which he considers the center of Chinese film and culture.
Although the festival is only eight years old, Wong said that it is screening 300 movies.
As 2018 marks four decades since China’s reform and opening-up, Wong hopes that the festival can be a big and vital platform for showcasing movies around the world.
The jury will review the 15 shortlisted films in the next seven days.
