The stage is set for the Figure Skating World Championships, where a slew of the best figure skaters in the world will be going head to head on the ice in Milan, starting from Wednesday until Saturday. The Chinese athletes have already arrived in Italy and are gearing up for the event. Yu Xiaoyu and Zhang Hao, along with Peng Cheng and Jin Yang, are representing China in the pairs category. Yu injured her ankle accidentally before she arrived in Milan, but will still be able to compete.
Unfortunately the silver medalists from the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, are out of the competition as Sui deals with a foot injury. In men's singles, only Jin Boyang will be skating for China as Yan Hang is out.

However, China’s head coach Zhao Hongbao is staying optimistic as he said: "Chinese figure skaters did not do very well at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. They made some big mistakes during the competition and did not show their real level. They have made some adjustments recently and I believe they will do better in Milan." The World Championships begin today with the women's individuals and Li Xiangning will be the first Chinese to perform.
