2017 News Map: Faces of November

As 2017 comes to an end, CGTN has put together a twelve-episode special series "News Map 2017", which runs until December 29, to review the monthly events of the past year. 
Here are some faces that grabbed world attention in November.

Terrorist attack in Sinai

November 24 was a dark day for Egypt with more than 300 people killed and at least 122 injured when 40 gunmen raided Al-Rawda mosque in Sinai during Friday Prayers in the deadliest attack in modern Egyptian history. 
Cairo residents were angered by the attacks, saying it was unfair to the Egyptian people.

To show solidarity with the victims, Tel Aviv's City Hall was lit up with the colors of the Egyptian flag. 

Rohingya migrant crisis

Months of a tough existence appeared near an end as Myanmar and Bangladesh signed an agreement in November covering the return of Rohingya Muslims.
More than 620,000 have fled across their mutual border to escape violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister said their priority is to ensure Rohingya Muslims can return safely to their homeland with honor.

'Blade runner' captured

Born on November 22, 1986, South African former sprint runner Oscar Pitorius, also known as the "Blade Runner", had his sentence increased to 13 years and five months, from six years, a few days after his 31st birthday. 
Pistorius was arrested and charged with murder after his girlfriend was shot to death on February 14, Valentine's Day, 2013. He will be eligible for parole in 2023 at the earliest.
