China is the world's largest e-bike market, with one in every seven people using electric bicycles according to estimates. However, many bikers neglect traffic rules and put their lives, as well as others', at risk. There were 31,404 accidents involving e-bikes in 2016, statistics from China's transportation authorities show. A total of 113 people were killed and 21,423 others injured, accounting for 37 percent of all traffic accident injuries.
