Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has meet leaders of Myanmar and Laos on the sidelines of the Greater Mekong Sub-region business summit in Hanoi, Vietnam. Both Wang and Myanmar Vice President U Henry Van Thio vowed to carry forward the traditional Pauk-Phaw friendship. The term was created in the 1950s to describe the close relationship between the two countries. And Wang hopes Myanmar will maintain the security of the part of the country which borders China. With Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, Wang promised to strive for more achievements in the 6-nation Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism. Both agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure the progress of the China-Laos railway, a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative.
