Australian warplanes will resume air strikes against ISIL targets in Syria, ending a two-day suspension implemented after the downing of a Syrian warplane by a US fighter jet, Reuters has reported.
Russia announced on Monday it would treat US-led coalition aircraft flying west of the River Euphrates in Syria as potential targets and track them with missile systems and military aircraft.
Following the Russian threat, Australia suspended its military campaign from Syrian operations.
A decision was made to resume the air strikes in Syria on Thursday, although it did not say when they would begin again.
The Australian Defense Force is fighting ISIL in both Syria and Iraq under the name "Operation OKRA", which includes about 780 personnel.
