During his visit to Chile and Uruguay, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of China and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) which opened on Monday.
The group, encompassing Latin America and the Caribbean, discussed cooperation between the two sides of the world.
In a show of the importance of the region to China, President Xi Jinping wrote a letter calling on Latin America and Caribbean countries to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.
