Tokyo 2020 Olympics Preparations: Japan unveils mascots selected by schoolchildren
[]
Japan has chosen a pair of mascots for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics that merge ancient traditions with modern animation.
About 6.5-million schoolchildren took part in selecting one of three pairs of mascots. The voting process was to get the children enthusiastic about the games. The process also made the selection of the art for the games public as the original official logo was scrapped following allegations of plagiarism.
