The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on Friday denounced Taiwan authorities for putting on hold applications by two Chinese mainland airlines to operate 176 additional cross-Strait flights during the Chinese Spring Festival.
A CAAC spokesperson said Taiwan authorities had disregarded the requirements of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the Chinese mainland strongly condemned the move.
The south to north operation of the M503 air route was "in line with people's common interests" across the Taiwan Strait and will not affect Taiwan flight safety, the agency said.
It also urged the relevant departments in Taiwan to approve the applications as soon as possible and respect the needs of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
