Though her home is far from the scenic spot, Pan has been visiting the area almost weekly since 1983, where her husband worked at the forestry protection station. She became fascinated by the monkeys and began searching and observing them together with her husband. /Xinhua Photo
In 1992, Pan was employed as a cleaner by the reserve. In her spare time, she often volunteered to explain the habits and characteristics of monkeys to visitors. /Xinhua Photo
The ecology of the area has improved over the years, making it an ideal habitat for a growing number of monkeys. In 2005, a travel company took over to try to tap its tourist resources. Pan offered to be the tour guide, and is now the most popular guide in Longhu Mountain. Many tour groups will even book her service well in advance of visiting the place. /Xinhua Photo
