It's like a real-life version of an action movie. A driver surnamed Xue was trapped in a Mercedes-Benz car while speeding down the highway at 120 kilometers per hour. It came after the cruise control function of the car failed to shut off. Mr. Xue soon contacted the car company for help, however, for nearly an hour, he couldn't control anything other than his steering wheel. Still unable to stop the car, He then dialled 110 to call traffic police, who cleared the road for him.

But the Beijing sales service of Mercedes-Benz has denied this, and said in a statement it would conduct a thorough investigation into the event. Chinese writer and racer Han Han challenged the authenticity of the incident, and he believe that the driver might have exaggerated some parts of the story. Other netizens expressed concern over public safety and urged police to take action. The incident is under investigation and its cause remains unknown.
