Chinese President Xi Jinping met with former president of the United States Barack Obama in Beijing on Wednesday. Xi said that China and the United States share many common interests and are both responsible for preserving world peace and promoting prosperity. He said that China will continue to work with the US for improved ties. Obama also promised to work with China to better the bilateral relationship. This is President Xi's first meeting with Obama since September 2016, when the two leaders ratified the Paris climate agreement.
