China's public health authorities National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) announced it is paying high attention to the case of a pregnant woman who died after falling from a hospital window last week, and will deal with the case strictly according to law, said NHFPC’s spokesperson at a press briefing on Thursday.
NHFPC has instructed the local health and family planning department to seriously investigate and verify the case as well as to deal with it strictly according to law, the spokesperson said.
The pregnant woman jumped off a hospital building in Yulin, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province after being denied a caesarean section.
Local police have confirmed that the pregnant woman committed suicide, according to a statement by the hospital.
