Storm death toll rises to 200 in southern Philippines

The death toll from mudslides and floods caused by Tropical Storm Tembin has risen to 200, as of Saturday night, Xinhua reported citing local police.
Of the 200 killed in storm-related incidents, 135 people were from Northern Mindanao and 47 from Zamboanga Peninsula,according to a report by local police spokesperson Lemuel Gonda.

The death toll from a tropical storm in the southern Philippines climbed to 133 on Saturday, as rescuers pulled dozens of bodies from a swollen river, reported AFP citing local police. 
Rescuers retrieved 36 bodies from the Salog River in Mindanao on Saturday, as officials reported more fatalities in the impoverished Zamboanga Peninsula.

Nearly 90 people were killed, and dozens are still missing in the mudslides and flooding as tropical storm Tembin swept through the southern Philippines, police and disaster officials said on Saturday.
The casualties were all on the main southern island of Mindanao, said officials. 
"We're are still trying to confirm reports of a farming village buried by a mudslide due to heavy rains brought by the typhoon," said Ryan Cabus, an official in the town Tubod.
Tropical storm Kai-Tak, which devastated the central Philippines last weekend has killed at least 41 people.
