We begin in Beijing, where the NPC Standing Committee, China's top legislature has kicked off its bimonthly session. During the week-long gathering, lawmakers will review a series of draft laws and regulations. CGTN's Hou Na reports from the Great Hall of the People.
HOU NA GREAT HALL OF THE PEOPLE, BEIJING "A busy week for law makers and legislators. They will hold four plenary sessions, eight panel discussions and one special inquiry session. For the first time, lawmakers will discuss the country's first Foreign Investment Law that aims to further protect the rights and interests of foreign enterprises as the country vows to open its market and promote fair trade. Legislators will also review the country's first Vaccine Management Law. The law aims to reform and improve the country's vaccine management system and further expand the national immunization drive to effectively protect people from infectious diseases. More importantly, it aims to place harsher penalties on offenders. Violations involving major vaccine producer, Changchun Changsheng Biotech in Jilin province, recently outraged the nation. During the week-long session, lawmakers will also review draft amendments to the country's Patent Law and Public Servant Law. CGTN will bring you more discussions and debates from lawmakers as the session proceeds."
