The North American racing circuit is much like other racing leagues where pit stops play a pivotal role in winning and losing - and last weekend, an agile crew member had to keep his head-up.
One of Paul Menard's crew members was holding two tires preparing for a change when he was nudged by an incoming car. He lost one, as it bounced off the wall, and gave the other to a colleague, and corralled the loose one.
That was a pretty impressive reaction which could have led to an untimely mishap. As the announcers noted, the tire likely weighed "70 to 80 pounds", but the catch was made before it could bounce into the lane and cause more damage.
As for the race, Kyle Busch in the No.18 Skittles Toyota passed Kyle Larson with seven laps to go and hold on to win the rain-interrupted race to win the Food City 500 at Bristol.
