Cultural Exchange: Chinese mainland, Taiwan jointly compile textbooks

Now, we head to the Affiliated High School of Fujian Normal University to attend a special class, where teachers from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan gave a lecture using textbooks jointly compiled by the two.

"Kong Yiji", a short story by renowned writer Lu Xun, is one of the stories in the "High School Chinese" jointly compiled by educators from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

Liu Guifang, a teacher from the Affiliated High School of Fujian Normal University, says this version includes more background information of the story, which makes it easier to understand.

Zeng Qixing, a high school teacher from Taiwan, chose to lecture on an essay by Taiwan writer Zhong Heli.

"High School Chinese" is just one of the text books jointly compiled by the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Since 2014, the two have jointly compiled textbooks in five categories. And many of them are used by high schools in both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

This joint effort aims to enhance cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two. Scholars hope it will help promote "an in-depth communication" between the people of the two sides.
