A taxi was hijacked by a passenger in Nanning, in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday. The suspect, who police say had taken drugs before the incident, strangled the driver from behind and demanded that he drive fast.

The driver quietly pressed an alarm button, allowing police to track the vehicle using traffic surveillance cameras.

Traffic police officers directed four private cars to block the taxi’s path. The driver then escaped from the car, and the suspect was arrested.
