US Tariffs on China: China's Ministry of Commerce: Beijing to take necessary measures

Chen Fuli, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law at China's Ministry of Commerce, has just held a press briefing. He said the US' latest move is against WTO rules, and China will take necessary measures to safeguard its interests.
CHEN FULI, DIRECTOR-GENERAL DEPARTMENT OF TREATY AND LAW, CHINA'S MINISTRY OF COMMERCE "The US' Section 301 investigation against China is in defiance of WTO rules. It is based on its own trade law. Therefore, the US action is apparent unilateralism and trade protectionism. The investigation is publicly against WTO rules. Also the investigation clearly ignores the reality of Chinese development, as well as the voices of professionals. Since the launch of the reform and opening up policy, China has been working hard to expand market access for foreign companies, and protect intellectual property rights. The US allegations against China are groundless. We will take all necessary measures to safeguard our interests."
