China is building the world’s fastest wind tunnel in suburban Beijing, aiming to be capable of simulating hypersonic flight at speeds of 12 km per second. At this speed, aircraft would be able to reach the US' West coast from China within 14 minutes. Scientists said that the goal is to complete the facility and have it operational by 2020.
