We start today's show in Berlin, where Angela Merkel has been sworn as German Chancellor by the parliament's president Wolfgang Schaeuble.
It is Merkel's fourth term, and essentially ends six months of post-election paralysis in Europe's biggest economy. Merkel heads a grand coalition with the Social Democratic Party, the country's second-largest party. Lawmakers have just voted to re-elect her and she earlier met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who rubber-stamped her appointment.
