Yang Xiaodu elected director of China’s National Supervisory Commission

Yang Xiaodu was elected as the director of China’s National Supervisory Commission at the ongoing first session of the 13th National People's Congress on Sunday.
The National Supervisory Commission integrates the functions of discipline inspection, supervision, prosecution and auditing in the Communist Party of China (CPC), government and judicial agencies.
Born in October 1953, Yang became a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), Minister of Supervision and Director of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention in 2017. 
Yang is from Shanghai. He began his first job in May 1970 in a production brigade in Taihe County, Anhui Province, and joined the CPC in September 1973.
From 1976 to 2001, he worked in Tibet Autonomous Region. While serving as Vice Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Regional Government during 1998-2001, he also studied law in the Central Party School’s Graduate School.
During 2001-2006, Yang served as the vice mayor of Shanghai.
During 2006-2012, Yang became a member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.
He became the Deputy Secretary of the CCDI in 2014. 
In 2017, Yang became a member of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and also Deputy Secretary of the CCDI. He also headed the Ministry of Supervision and the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention.
