Government officials in Shenzhen planning ceremonies such as weddings and funerals are now required to report their events 10 days before they're held, in the latest push by the authorities in the southern Chinese city to promote transparency and crack down on corruption and extravagance.
Through online channels, details about ceremonies for the officials, their spouses, and their immediate family members, now must be provided.
The list of occasions includes weddings, birthdays, promotions, and funerals. Celebrations marking achievements of officials' children, such as studying abroad, receiving awards, or landing jobs job, must also be notified.

The time and location of the events, as well as the number of guests invited, should be submitted through an online system at least 10 days in advance.
Officials should also vow not to invite and take gifts or money from people of relevance to their position, and ensure ceremonies are not arranged in a lavish way. At the same time, all expenses should be paid from the officials' own pocket with zero tolerance to any misuse of public funds.
After receiving all the necessary information, disciplinary authorities will provide guidance within five days, and carry out inspections.
