Wall Street closed sharply lower Tuesday, with each of the major US indices suffering their fourth decline in five sessions.
The drop was fueled by a selloff in the tech sector. It has been under pressure recently due to concerns about government regulation stemming from strong growth and privacy questions surrounding Facebook.
Meanwhile, in Europe, shares surged Tuesday on signs of a relief in trade tensions between Beijing and Washington. The  STOXX 600 index gained 1-point-2 percent with all sectors rising, scoring its best day in six weeks. Germany's DAX led with a 1.6 percent rise.
