EU migrant crisis worsens after Italy tightens control
[]
The migrant situation in Italy is getting worse with 12,000 asylum seekers arriving in 48 hours. The Italian government now says it will stop all non-Italian ships from docking at the country's ports unless the situation improves.
Ambassador to the EU Maurizio Massari told the EU’s Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos that Italy, already hosting 200,000 refugees, has reached its limit.
But some argue, however that Italy’s latest decision goes against the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea.
