Nine trapped in collapsed tunnel in SW China confirmed alive

The nine trapped construction workers have all been confirmed alive, following continuous rescue work, according to local authorities.
The collapsed tunnel was broken through at 11:25 a.m. on Friday, and emergency rescue teams have managed to let the construction workers get phone signals so that they can get in touch with the outside world.

At least nine people are trapped following a collapse at a tunnel construction site in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, Xinhua has reported.

The tunnel, part of the Yumo Railway in Jinghong City, collapsed at around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday.
Emergency rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene and as of 1:37 p.m., a ventilation hole has been opened and rescue operations are underway.
